Mosaics on Art Classes

Paper Mosaics

Colored paper, scissors and glue are enough to create your own mosaic. Our students found out about it during the last art class. With the help of the teacher, they made unique works that immediately decorated our school.

Christmas Cards – ‘Children’s Wishes for Children’

Christmas Cards Exchange with Norway

Today we would also like to present the effect of the Christmas project “Children’s wishes for children”. It was coordinated by one of our teachers who moved to Norway and works in a local school, and teachers from the school at Podbipięty Street. As part of this beautiful action, the students made greeting cards by hand and sent them to Norway. Yesterday we received a package from local children (cards on a navy blue background).

December Challenge

December Challenge in Grades 1-3

In December the task for students in grades from 1 to 3 was to make a Christmas or winter decoration. The main element the children had to use was recycled glass. The works they brought look amazing! Our talented students showed creativity and artistic flair which resulted in beautiful decorations in our school. Thank you for taking part in the challenge!

Gingerbread Man visits the school

A special guest in school at Podbipięty Street

Our school was recently visited by a special guest – a Gingerbread Man! He handed out gifts to children consisting of – as you can guess – gingerbread made by our students and wished all of us a merry Christmas. We like such guests very much!

November in Da Vinci’s International Primary School

November in Da Vinci’s

A lot has happened in our school in the last month. There were a few holidays to celebrate, the lessons were engaging, and we absolutely could use our creativity in its full potential. We invite you to take a look at November!

Diwali

The beginning of the month was marked by Diwali, the festival of light. It was an opportunity for Indian students to introduce their traditions and culture to other children. Within a few days, we watched dance shows, took part in Rangoli and Mehendi workshops and tried unique delicacies. All photos from Diwali celebrations can be seen in a separate gallery.

National Independence Day

November 11th is the National Independence Day in Poland. The students took a moment to reflect on its meaning and recall what the history of Poland looks like. It is impossible, after all, to move forward completely without looking into the past and learning from what happened before.

Solar System – MYP Exhibition

This month, 6th grade students shined by making models of the planets of the Solar System and creating an exhibition with them. During breaks, they presented it to their friends and played the role of teachers, telling about numerous interesting facts. The full gallery from the exhibition can be seen in a separate entry.

Solar System – IPC

The 4th grade also became interested in the topic of the Solar System. During the IPC classes, students used interactive whiteboards and digital materials for learning. After exploring the subject, they used their newly acquired knowledge to make colorful posters.

Non-Newtonian Fluid

Another creative activity was to make a non-Newtonian liquid from potato flour, water and paint. It is an unusual substance that, under the influence of pressure, can change the state of matter from liquid to solid. This also works the other way around. Non-Newtonian liquid is just as easy to change from solid to liquid.

Art classes

During the art classes, students learned how to make monotypes. This graphic technique that allowed them to make several copies of an artwork. Animals became the main topic.

Thanksgiving

Originating in the United States, Thanksgiving helps us to reflect on what we are grateful for in our lives. We cannot always see it at first glance, which is why such a moment of reflection can be extremely useful. Our students understand this, and on a tree prepared for this purpose they stuck leaves with a list of things for which they are grateful.

Letters to Santa Claus

The youngest students decided not to waste time and wrote early enough and then sent letters to St. Nicholas. They attached them to red balloons so that none of them would get lost. However, not everyone revealed what was on their wishlist this year.

St. Andrew’s Day

Many people associate the last days of November with St. Andrew’s Day (Andrzejki). It was no different at our school – the children started pouring wax, found fortune-telling in cookies and learned about various customs related to this day. More photos can be found in a separate gallery.

November Challenge

Finally, we present the works the youngest kids made this month. The subject of the challenge was to create something out of wood. The students fulfilled the task perfectly, making unique constructions.

St. Andrew’s Day (Andrzejki)

St. Andrew’s Day in Da Vinci’s International Primary School

School at Pilotów Street

On the occasion of St. Andrew’s Day (Andrzejki), yesterday we prepared a number of attractions for our students. There was wax pouring, coin tossing, fruit draw, and a whole lot of other fortune-telling. We would like to thank our irreplaceable art teachers who watched over everything and prepared this magical event!

School at Podbipięty Street

Students from the youngest grades celebrated St. Andrews Day too. Each class had a chance to learn about this folk Polish custom and take part in fortune-telling, finding out what the near and distant future will bring.

Solar System – MYP Exhibition

6th Grade’s Exhibition

Last week, 6th grade students tried their hand at being teachers. First, they made models of the planets of the Solar System, and later presented them to their friends during breaks. This way other classes got the opportunity to learn something interesting.

All this was done as part of the MYP (Middle Years Program) educational program, which our school implements in its activities.

October in Da Vinci’s International Primary School

October in Da Vinci’s

Just like September, October was a month full of various events and attractions in our school. We got involved in some interesting actions that allowed us to look at some things from a different perspective and do something good.

‘Instead of a flower, I bring help!’

On November 14, we celebrated Teachers’ Day, but we did it in a rather unusual way. We have decided that this year we will join the action ‘Instead of a flower, I bring help!’, organized by the Polish Humanitarian Organization (PAH). Its goal is to help the people of Somalia who are struggling with difficult living conditions. For this reason, we asked the students not to buy flowers for teachers, but to put a small donation in a special jar. The collected money was donated to help Somalis. We would like to thank everyone for participating in this action!

Tok-tober

October was also a time for us to get acquainted with the TOK (Theory of Knowledge) course. Although it is part of the International Baccalaureate program carried out by the high school, primary school students could take part in activities prepared for this occasion. They prepared unique posters related to the topic of knowledge. Each of them had something special about them, which is why the students received diplomas and a sweet snack for them.

Creative activities

As usual, there were also classes during which students could demonstrate their artistic talents. Children from the school on Podbipięty Street collected colorful leaves and turned them into an autumn tree. During the IPC class – on the subject of ‘Footprints from the Past’, 2nd Grade learned a lot about dinosaurs and made their own landscape model with these animals. Grade 8th, on the other hand, visited the darkroom, where they learned about the secrets of photography.

In the meantime, seasonal decorations appeared in school corridors, made by our amazing art teacher with the help of the students.
