June Challenge

June Challenge – St. John’s wreaths

Like every month, June also was the occasion for students to undertake a certain task. This time the challenge was to make St. John’s wreaths. The children showed that they have great talents and presented their various works, full of colors. Thank you very much for all the flowers you brought and we are proud that they look so beautiful

Go Green! – marshmallows and baloons

Last Go Green classes

Summer break has already started, but we still want to share with you the effects of the last Go Green classes from this school year. During the lesson, students became interested in marshmallows and balloons. First, they checked what would happen to the marshmallow when we heat it up in the microwave. The tests lasted 10, 20 and 50 seconds respectively, and the experiment was a lot of fun. Later, the students checked how the marshmallow would be affected by immersion in water and oil. The second task was about balloons. The students were to use them to make their own squishy toys (called “gniotki” in Polish).

End of the School Year 2020/2021

End of the School Year 2020/2021

Dear students and parents!

The 2020/2021 school year has ended this Friday, June 25th – it was atypical and full of challenges. We spent a large part of it at home, but this did not prevent the students from gaining knowledge and engaging in additional activities. Science Day, weekly Go Green classes, preparing videos for World Book Day or creating a summer mural are just some of them. And even more was happening.

We hope that the coming months will bring you as many attractions, ideas and inspiration. Thank you for this whole year and we wish you a peaceful and sunny holiday!

Science Day

Science Day in Da Vinci’s

Yesterday Science Day took place at our school. During this event students had the opportunity to listen to interesting lectures and take part in specially prepared workshops. We would like to thank the people who helped us prepare this day: Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University and Klub pod Kasztanami Ośrodek Kultury Kraków-Nowa Huta. We are sure that the commitment shown to us and the willingness to pass on knowledge will encourage many students to become even more interested in physics.

Go Green! – Carbon dioxide

Go Green! – Carbon dioxide

In their last Go Green lesson, students learned a lot about carbon dioxide. First they read the composition of the orangeade powder, and then dissolved it in water. Thanks to this, they learned that carbon dioxide is a product of the reaction of citric acid with sodium carbonate. Subsequent experiments involved the use of baking soda and vinegar. The students found that carbon dioxide also appears in this reaction.

The second task turned out to be quite fun because it needed a diaper to complete it. The students checked how much water it could hold, and they also got to know sodium polyacrylate. It is a polymer that can absorb 100 to 1000 times its weight of water.
